Hello again! It’s Jillian here, finishing up the last and largest details of this One Room Challenge–furniture! My plan is to play with pieces that I already have, which is one of my favorite pastimes, and adding one perfect new addition! There will be a desk or two and some chairs in the space, but that’s about it. I am planning to keep this room simple, clean, and crisp! Speaking of crisp, it is finally staring to feel like fall around here. Check out this beautiful photo by Lisa of some gorgeous foliage!
Now let’s take a look at what has happened thus far during The Brick Nest HQ office makeover.
Week 1 Before photos and the plan
Week 2 Paint transformation and a new rug
Week 3 Art
Week 4 Bookshelves styled with baskets
Now here’s a quick look at some of the furniture I am playing with for this room. Below is a photo of my beautiful antique secretary which has been in two different rooms in my nest so far and now finds a perfect spot here in the office. The desk chair I also had and was a great Homegoods find. It works perfectly in this office too.
This relaxed glider from the kids’ nursery has been repurposed into a comfortable reading chair in the office. It is just as comfy as I remember, but now I’m no longer likely to fall asleep in it during the middle of the night! I like that I can reuse it, and it will make for a good spot to read to the kids. I plan to throw a beautiful bright pillow on the chair to spruce it up. Poof! This chair is hereby saved from storage in the basement!
This bright coral table had been in my daughter’s nursery, but no longer worked in the space after the new big girl blush bedroom redo (see that One Room Challenge here), so it found its way to The Brick Nest HQ. You may also recognize it from the luau party (check that post out too).
This old leather chair has also been around the house (and my in-laws’ house too). It just got a makeover with some new fresh and bold fabric recently, but I will save that new look for you until next week. This chair just screams “cozy office” to me, and also brings a touch of masculine to the space, which is only fair since my husband does indeed work in the HQ sometimes too.
Since that pic shows my shelves, here is a quick little sneak peek of additional accessorizing. This sweet tiny bird below may have made its way down to these bookshelves too. Birds and baskets make a charming combination!
Anyway, furniture is always moving in my house. In fact, this weekend I just was shifting even more things around in my dining room! Don’t be afraid to do a little rearranging–sometimes moving furniture can totally change the whole feel of a room.
The One Room Challenge has been extended a week to accommodate the delays people are experiencing due to the recent hurricanes. I plan to give you a sneak peek of this office refresh next week, and then the following week show you the full room reveal. Thanks to Calling it Home for hosting, and be sure to check out all the other participants’ amazing room makeovers here.
Now I just need to finalize the furniture placement and accessorize the heck out of this space! We’re almost there! Thanks for reading and stay tuned–the finish line is in sight!
