Hello there! Jillian here, and I would like to welcome you to my home! We bought this house six years ago and have been very busy making it our own. So far we have done two major renovations and have a third in the works. It is a constant work in progress, but improving our home is something I really love doing and I’m excited to share it with you. So let’s go on a photo tour of my home! I have also included some before photos for your viewing pleasure, because who doesn’t love a good before and after? Come on in to my brick nest!
For now we’ll enter through the mudroom off of the garage, as the front foyer is still a work in progress (but it’s going to be a beauty, so stay tuned!).
That’s enough of the kids’ stuff and laundry–let’s move on to the heart of the home. Next stop, kitchen!
Here is a before picture so you have an idea of how far we have come!
What a transformation! I love my bright, modern, classic, white kitchen, and I hope you do too.
Here is the kitchen dining space. I adore this area for several reasons. It gets tons of bright natural light thanks to some skylights. The charming exposed brick sections of the wall (that used to be the exterior of the house before the addition was built), give the space character and a bit of an industrial feel. And this lighting fixture is one of my favorites for sure!
Our family room is a very open, light-filled room that flows right off the kitchen. We spend the majority of our time in this area, so I tried to make it comfortable and family friendly, but still stylish.
Formal Dining Room
This dining room was painted in an invigorating and fun raspberry red of color that really made a statement, but I have recently changed the color to a more toned down blue/gray (see photos below). Which do you prefer?
If you want to learn more about our painted floors, peruse this post at your leisure.
There are still a few rooms left downstairs that are not included in this tour, as they are currently works in progress (WIP). Did you see The Brick Nests HQ office makeover? Check that post out here and below is just one of the many photos of that space.
Now shall we head upstairs?
Here is a before and after.
I absolutely love my master bathroom, as it feels like escaping to a spa every time I shower!
I am currently planning a redo of this room sometime soon as it feels a little young for this big boy 6 year old! Stay tuned… and did you see my daughter’s bedroom redo? See a gazillion photos here and below is my favorite photo of her beautiful blush big girl room.
There are a few more WIP bedrooms, but let’s hop over to the guest bedroom from our recent One Room Challenge makeover. I like to call it my cozy tree fort guest nest!
I hoped you enjoyed the tour of my brick nest! Come back soon for updates and additions to our home tours.
