It’s dress up time! Our country club recently hosted an annual semi-formal party, and it is always a great time. We dined and we danced and laughed with good friends. Here’s a look at the dresses that we wore!

While I do wear black in the fall and winter, I rarely wear it in spring or summer, usually opting for crisp whites or pretty colors. Furthermore, while I love an occasion to wear a full-length formal gown, for semi-formal events such as this, I almost always choose short dresses. So this Nanette Lepore dress (similar and similar), which I scored at TJ Maxx and chose to wear to this event, is a bit of a departure for me, as it is both black and midi-length. But I am such a sucker for beautiful embroidery work (see some of my favorite pieces with embroidery work here and here and here)! The smattering of bright embroidered flowers and confetti-like dots is like a garden party on this dress, and the black background and tiered skirt give it almost a Spanish feel that I love. And this flowy dress is built for dancing–I can’t help but give it a twirl!
I paired it with pale-pink snakeskin heels (similar) adorned with a playful bow, and a pair of whimsical statement earrings (similar). Colorful statement earrings are really having a moment these days, which makes me happy, as I bought these earrings about fifteen years ago, and it’s great to pull them out of my jewelry box again. Plus, they look practically custom-made for this dress!

This sweet blue and white seersucker dress was my choice for this party. The one-shouldered look is big this season (see Lisa’s version here), and this playful dress is right on trend, sporting a flirty, voluminous double ruffle to amp up an otherwise tailored and simple silhouette. Summer soiree season is almost here, and this adorable dress would be a fresh and stylish choice for weddings, showers, or social parties. It is effortless and fun while still being polished and crisp. And as a woman of smaller stature, I love that this dress comes in petite! I paired it with classic peep-toe heels (similar) in a neutral color that goes with everything.
We just love an occasion to get dressed up, and had such a great evening out–so much fun! Hope you had fun reading this post too!

You two look amazing in your dresses. Like you, I’m glad not to have to dress up all the time but when we do it’s fun. 🙂
