Hello! Lisa here on this fine fall day to tell you about my new jacket, with which I’m just a tad obsessed. I was recently at the mall on a mission to get new school clothes for the kids. I had finished up my shopping, and was hurrying through Nordstrom to the parking lot with my blinders on since I didn’t have time to do any shopping for myself. But despite my best efforts not to be distracted by all the cute clothes around me, a mannequin in my peripheral vision caught my eye. It was wearing an adorable, shiny pale-green bomber jacket, and all I could think was “THAT!” It was a total impulse buy, but there is no buyer’s remorse for this girl. I took one look at that jacket and had flashes of all the ways I could wear it. When a piece is as versatile and wearable as this jacket, it simply belongs in my closet.

This little bomber jacket has a sporty, relaxed shape, but the shiny satin material and feminine, slightly puffed shoulders dress is up. It’s also in a go-with-almost-everything, pale sage-green color. In this post I’m showing you five different ways I’ll be wearing this jacket, ranging from super causal to decked out. I must ask you to please excuse the poor quality of the photos. My DSLR camera took an unfortunate nosedive from a substantial height and is currently in the repair shop, but the blog must go on, so these pictures had to be taken with my phone. Let the outfits begin!
For going to my kids’ soccer games or taking a walk through the woods to admire the changing foliage, I would wear this jacket with a plain white v-neck t-shirt (similar), a pair of black ponte leggings embellished with faux leather details and zippers to add a little interest (here is another similar pair), and a comfy pair of sneakers. The look is super casual and sporty, but a step up from sweats.
For buying fresh autumn produce from the farmers market or running errands around town, I would wear this jacket over a classic Breton shirt (here is another similar option), with these super comfortable gray jeans. The navy and white stripes break up the otherwise pale colors. A cute pair of street sneakers (here is another similar pair) completes the relaxed look.
When a more pulled-together look is required, whether for going to a PTA meeting or to a Decor Coaching consultation appointment with a client, I would wear this jacket with classic jeans and a more conservative plaid blouse. The smocked high neck of the blouse brings the “proper” and the shape of the jacket brings the “cool.” Silver pointed-toe flats (similar) give this look polish and echo the shine of the satin. For those who work in an office, this look could work well for “Casual Friday” attire.
When I want to dress up just a bit for a nice dinner out or for maybe checking out a gallery opening, I would wear this jacket over a flowy printed blouse (similar and similar), with skinny black jeans and fierce animal print pumps (here is another similar pair). Pushing up the sleeves to three-quarter length allows a pretty bracelet (similar) to show.
For heading out for a night on the town with friends or a date night with my hubby, I would wear this jacket over a black lace mini cocktail dress (similar), with a killer pair of lace-up booties (similar). While the overall look is still dressy, the sporty shape of the jacket counters the formality of the cocktail dress and gives it a little edge (as does the choice to wear booties instead of heels), making the cocktail dress more versatile as well.
I love to play around with fashion and experiment with wearing pieces in more than one way. This jacket has attitude, range, and effortless style, and is the topper that makes all these outfits feel complete and interesting. It may have been an impulse buy, but it was a great decision! Here’s to having fun with fall fashion!
