Hello, it’s Jillian here, and welcome to the reveal day of my daughter’s big girl bedroom! If you are new to The Brick Nests, be sure to pop over to our About page! The little gender-neutral nursery in the before picture below has really evolved in the last few weeks and morphed into a beautiful, coastal, big girl mermaid bedroom! I am thrilled at the transformation! Here is a little recap of this One Room Challenge. First, we started with the not-so-bad before photograph from week 1, then we moved on to the worse-looking room desperately in need of paint in week 2, followed by the half-way point in week 3 where we saw some progress with furniture and lighting, then week 4 was all about decor (that rhymes LOL), and finally week 5 we talked art. Below I will share a few before photos as well as the room mood board I created, and then I will get on with the show…and lots of after photos!
Okay, now that’s enough of those icky before pictures! Below is my room idea image which changed slightly as this room started to take on a more coastal-chic feel after my daughter inherited my amazing dresser (sigh). I do find it is helpful to decorate with a theme. During the fall One Room Challenge I transformed my dated guest room into an amazing tree-house-themed bedroom–check that post out for sure if you haven’t already. While this big girl bedroom definitely ended up having a more California beachy mermaid theme than I had anticipated, I love how it turned out!

I apologize in advance for the copious amounts of photographs, but I just couldn’t help myself! Thanks to the talented Lisa Mackie for taking these amazing photos! Now sit back, relax, maybe grab a snack, and enjoy!
Thanks to Calling It Home for hosting this event where hundreds of guest participants like me link up with weekly posts of their room transformations. Be sure to check out the other amazing reveals! There are also twenty featured participants too, so pop on over to Calling It Home for motivation and inspiration galore–you will be glad that you did!
Thanks for stopping by to see my daughter’s bedroom reveal! I hope you enjoyed the transformation journey. To stay up-to-date with the latest from The Brick Nests, please sign up for our email newsletter below–we would love to stay in touch! My daughter is very excited to be back in her new blush big girl bedroom, especially because that means there is no more bunking up with her brothers (woot woot!), and I am thrilled to have this beautiful bedroom all done–three cheers to that! Good night, sweet mermaid, good night!
